There is so much to enjoy in the way of outdoor activities and sports, and the City of North Bay with its theatres, art galleries and special events is only a thirty minute drive away.
As North Bay is well connected to major cities using Highways 11 and 17, and with buses, flights and trains, Chisholm is readily accessible, but at the same time it enjoys a measure of seclusion.
2015 Remuneration and Expenses
Section 284(1) of the Municipal Act, S.O.2001, requires every municipality to submit an itemized statement of the previous years remuneration and expenses paid to each member of council, and each member of any body (committee) in respect of his/her services. A copy of the statement can be found at the bottom of this page, as well as the 2015 Year End Remuneration Statement for the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board.

Zoning By-law Amendment
Council, at its April 26th, 2016 meeting, will consider a Zoning By-law Amendment. The purpose of the proposed by-law is to amend the Restricted Area (Zoning) By-Law No. 2014-25 as amended to lands located in Part Lot 10, Concession 8. The proposed amendment would rezone the subject land to an Agricultural (A-2) Exception Zone to permit the construction of an accessory secondary dwelling unit. OFFICIAL PLAN AMENDMENT AND ZONING BY-LAW AMENDMENT -Council of the Corporation of the Township of Chisholm approved Official Plan Amendment No. 1 through the passing of By-law 2015-21, and passed By-law 2015-22, a Zoning By-law Amendment on the 23rd day of June, 2015. These amendments will implement the Policies of the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority Source Water Protection Plan, and prohibit the future use of land as storage of tailings from a mine or mine tailings pond containing phosphorus. Mandatory Septic Inspections
In January 2011, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing revised the Ontario Building Code (OBC), creating “mandatory maintenance inspections” for all septic systems in Ontario identified as a “significant threat” to drinking water sources. If this pertains to your property you may have received a letter this year explaining that your septic was to be inspected. For a copy of this letter and flyer please see the bottom of this page. ZONING BY-LAW - The Township has adopted a new Zoning By-law to implement the new Official Plan. Please refer to the Planning Section of Municipal Services for a copy of the new document.
OFFICIAL PLAN - On March 13, 2012, Council adopted a new Official Plan for the Municipality. Please refer to the attachment "Notice of Adoption" for more information and to the 'Planning' page, under Municipal Services for the actual document.

The Township's Emergency Plan is now posted in the "Emergency Services" under the "Municipal Services". Copies of the plan can also be picked up at the office.
As of July 1, 2013 the Ministry of Energy requires all broader public sector organizations including municipalities to report on their annual energy use and greenhouse gas emissions in designated building/facilities. The Ministry of Energy now also requires that a 5-year Conservation and Demand Management Plan be developed and implemented.
