Background information on the Official Plan
The Township of Chisholm Official Plan was adobted by Council in 2013. Since then there has been 2 amendments (North Bay Mattawa Source Water Protection and by-law 2021-07).
The goals, objectives and policies contained in the 2013 Official Plan are intended to guide the decision of public athorities and private interests for 20 years and is to be reviewed every 10 years. The plan is now past its 10 year mark and requires a review of the policy framework and encorporate the new Provincial Planning Statement as well all Planning Act Amendments such as:
• Bill 97, Helping Homebuyers, Protecting Tenants Act
• Bill 23, More Homes Built Faster Act
• Bill 108, More Homes More Choices Act
• Bill 109, More Homes for Everyone Act
• Bill 185, Cutting Red Tape to Build More Homes Act
The Township is required to hold public consultation sessions throughout the process to ensure all residents have a chance to voice thier oppinions to Council.
Please be sure to visit this page to find the latest news and information on this project. Comments can be submitted by emailing info@chisholm.ca.
On May 13th, the consultants will be giving a presentation at the Council meeting. The presentation will highlight key findings from the background report and the directions related to each topic area. This will be further built upon once we prepare the draft Official Plan and our subsequent presentation will highlight key changes made to address those directions. The draft report can be found below once available. Comments and feedback from the public on the report can be sent to the Township Office, 2847 Chiswick Line, or by email. info@chisholm.ca
Background Report: The background report is intended to provide directions for the Official Plan changes but is not intended to show the changes to draft Official Plan. Our next step following the background report is to redline the Official Plan to demonstrate where the changes are proposed to be made in line with the Background Report directions. We will present the draft changes at the Open House and Statutory Public Meeting (to be scheduled in the late fall). The presentation at those meetings will highlight where key changes are made and the documents will be made available to the public so that they can review the documents and provide feedback.
