Emergency Update
UPDATE: MESSAGE April 18, 2026 11:30 AM
⚠️Flood Update ⚠️– Message to our Residents from Mayor Gail Degagne
The Township of Chisholm is still seeing rising water levels and flooding in some areas. Flooding is affecting roads and important services, especially in and around Wasi Lake. Snow melting from Algonquin Park, along with heavy rainfall throughout this week, is causing water levels to rise.
The Township is currently under a State of Emergency.
🚧 Roads that are remaining closed are: Memorial Park Drive (between Greenpoint and Golf Course Road), Chiswick Line (between Kells Road and Beach), and Beach Road (between Memorial and the public beach).
🚫 Please do not drive through closed or flooded roads.
🏠 Affected residents are asked to stay home and shelter in place unless told otherwise. Emergency services may take longer to reach some areas due to road closures.
The situation is being closely monitored by Township staff, the Emergency Operations Control Group, Public Works, and the Volunteer Fire Department. Staff are checking on residents and offering help where needed.
Residents who wish to voluntarily evacuate their home because of flooding concerns should contact the Township Office at (705) 724‑3526 or email info@chisholm.ca. Township staff and the Volunteer Fire Department will work with affected residents to help arrange a safe evacuation if needed.
If you are in immediate danger or have an emergency, call 911 right away.
Updates will continue as conditions change. Please know that we are working diligently to ensure the safety of all throughout this challenging situation.
Sincerely,
Gail Degagne
Mayor
Township of Chisholm
