MEDIA RELEASE
The Township of Chisholm has declared a state of Emergency in response to the severe flooding that is occurring throughout the township, with approximately ¼ of the impacted area underwater. Flooding is affecting roads and critical services as water levels continue to rise. The melt of snow from Algonquin Park compounded by significant rainfall continue to impact water levels in the township.
The following roads are closed within the Township:
- Memorial Park Drive (Between Greenpoint Road and Golf Course Road)
- Beach Road (from Memorial Park Drive and the beach)
- Chiswick Line (from Kells Road to Beach Road)
We advise you to not pass on closed roads. Best practice is to shelter in place.
The Township of Chisholm Volunteer Fire Department will be checking on residents in the effected areas. Please notify the Township Office at (705) 724-3526 or email info@chisholm.ca should you decide to “voluntarily evacuate” your residence due to any potential flooding that might occur. Should you wish to evacuate we can discuss a plan to help arrange evacuation to a safe point.
In the event of an emergency, please do not hesitate to call 911.
